The City’s Most Stylish Silent Auction: The Creative Space Beirut

Fashion scene

Some of the most impressive designs at Beirut Design Week weren’t from big names or trendy ateliers, but from a group of eight students at The Creative Space Beirut (CSB). On June 28, the fashion education program drew an eclectic (but uniformly stylish) crowd to its fashion presentation and silent auction, hosted by Bokja design studio.

Forty-two runway-ready pieces draped from mannequins, attesting to the quality of the three-year program. The theme of the collection was Sawfar, the Mount Lebanon town, and pieces ranged from heavenly Grecian gowns and graphic swing dresses to hand-painted silk scarves and handmade accessories. Early in the evening, the student designers presented their work to potential buyers and window-shoppers. By the time the auction’s final bid was cast, more than half of the collection had sold.

CSB has its work cut out for it over the next few weeks, as private fittings and alterations begin for the winning bidders. IMG_0026
