It’s winter, it’s cold, and you just want throw on layers of clothes to keep you warm. But we all know that wearing a layered outfit is totally challenging. Layering is an art, and there is a very thin line between pulling it off, and looking like an Eskimo lost in the city. And lets not forget the trickiest part: not looking bigger than you actually are.

1 // Jacket On JacketFor an effective and bold layering technique, wear two jackets on top of each other. Try short jacket on top of a long one or vice-versa, they both work.
2 // Contrasting Colors and Prints
If you want to add depth to your layered outfit, try combining several items with different prints and contrasting colors. Pairing prints and different colors can be tricky, so do it wisely. Here are few tips on print pairing and color matching.
3 // Scarf Illusion
This is simple and an easy trick. Just wrap around a bulky long woolen scarf around your neck to create an illusion of serveral layers on top of each other. You can also let the scarf hang loosely around your neck tucking half of it under the coat to create an illusion of a woolen sweater.
4 // Skinny Bottoms
To avoid looking bulkier that you really are, simply pair your layered sweaters and jackets either with leggings or stockings. It's also an easy way to go for those who are not sure what to complete their layered outfit with.
5 // Cape On
If you think capes are 2000 and late think again. If you use capes for layering your outfit they will actually look really cool. We agree it's not easy to find capes in the market and let alone ones that look trendy, but if you do manage to get your hands on one, it will be your favorite item to use for layering.
