Oh So Local
Souk El Ahad (literally translating to 'Sunday Market') is one of Beirut's most iconic local mass find-anything-and-everything shopping markets, located in Sin-el-Fil. 20 years and counting, Souk El Ahad opens every Saturday and Sunday and is definitely a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. One where you get ready to bargain.
We visited the market Sunday evening and it's pretty much a labyrinth of stalls filled with people on both sides trying to grab your attention to sell you something. Something meaning anything you can imagine: gadgets and trinkets, second-hand clothes, antiques, sunglasses, underwear, headbands, jackets, shoes, spices and of course food.
Visit Souk El Ahad next time you feel like hunting down a treasure that you probably won't find anywhere else, and at a price you'll tell stories about later ("GUESS how much I bought this 35-year old vintage hand-made, hand-carved coffee table for?!" - one of those).
