Your Local Fashion Guide to Beirut: #discover

So Perverse

/per'vers/, or Perverse, is one of our newest local fashion discoveries. Featured as one of Starch Foundation's 2016 designers, we discovered the brand when we visited Starch boutique in Saifi Village.

An all-black collection, "Shadows of My Relfection", caters unisex designs to both women and men. The overall feel is so different than anything we are seeing here in Beirut: it's dark, it's grungy, and it's exactly the type of thing we'd wear over and over again.

Seeing and trying on a few pieces of the collection felt slightly Berlin-reminiscent (as Berliners are know to wear a lot of black simple pieces). It was that, except with a more sophisticated feel.

Check it out.

The Designer: Lobnan Mahfouz

We were lucky enough to meet the designer behind the brand when we visited Starch. Lobnan Mahfouz wonderfully welcomed us into the boutique and carefully showed us his collection. He's been designing for a few years now and he's super excited about showcasing at Starch.

When we asked him why an all-black collection he said that he absolutely loves the color (so do we!) - but he also loves being challenged to use that same color with different fabrics in the same collection, and finding a way to make it work.

We really recommend you check out the collection at Starch boutique (see details below) - could be soo cool for a couple who wants to dress the same, but different, #justsayin'.

Official Bio

Fashion designer Lobnan Mahfouz graduated from ESMOD in 2011. He then pursued many internships with reputable Lebanese fashion designers before pursuing his career in different fashion enterprises in Turkey, India, and China.

In fall 2015, Lobnan launched his fashion brand “Perverse Label”, along his first collection “11:11”.

Perverse Label is an athleisure, unisex and aseasonal brand. What inspires “Perverse Label“ is the existence of a huge melting pot of genders, personalities, ethnic backgrounds, and every single aspect varying from a person to another, translated by its ability to mix and match more than one fabric boldly creating distinguished pieces.

In February 2016 Lobnan was selected by STARCH Foundation. Lobnan's second collection "Shadows Of My Reflection" was showcased at Fashion Forward Dubai presented by STARCH Foundation.
