The 72nd Golden Globes ceremony that took place this past Sunday January 11, was full of special moments of praise for the rich and famous. Since then, and for the next few days, we'll be constantly bombarded with overly dramatized analysis of every detail of the winners' speeches, life lessons, red carpet looks, and even manicured nails.
On this somewhat dreary Tuesday afternoon we decided to share a laugh with you over some weird moments that took place in the ceremony, most of which went pretty viral.
Get ready for some coverage on celebrity attire, pranks, and the faces (spontaneously) made by the stars we usually see oh-so-poised.
Without further adieu, here's the list:
Amal Clooney's Gloves
George stated that Amal has actually sewed those gorgeous white satin gloves herself. We think he was being slightly sarcastic, but the thought of Amal sewing her own gloves while brainstorming arguments for her current court case is quite something.
Catherine Zeta Jones As An Emoji
It's her! Yes! HER!
Chrissy Teigen's Crying Face
Chrissy Teigen displayed this face when her husband, John Legend, won an award. What was this face? The internet is still trying to figure out. One might mistake it with the when-you-realise-tomorrow-is-a-Monday face.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Photobomb
Last year, Benedict Cumberbatch photobombed U2 at the Oscars. This year, he photobombed none other than Meryl Streep and Margharet Cho. Keep doing that Benedict, and the internet will stay under your thumb for as long as you're making people laugh at it.
George Clooney's Call For Award
Poehler and Fey, the ceremony presenters, praised Amal Clooney's lifetime achievements as an international human rights lawyer, and then directly stated "So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award." Based on the audience's applause, it looked like Clooney was contending for the joke-of-the-night award.
Allison Janny Is A Massive Prince Fan
That moment when you realize that celebrities are just like us.
Prince made a surprise appearance to present the Best Song Award. The famous people in the room were actually pretty excited to see him. After all, they are all mere celebrities, and he is Prince, who by the virtue of his 'Prince-ness,' tops them all.
Frances McDormand’s Serious Face
Frances McDormand's extremely serious face was compared to that of Tommy Lee Jones's deadpan face during the 2013 Golden Globes. Who, in turn, was compared to a grumpy siamese cat.
Therefore, Frances McDormand = Grumpy cat.
An All-About-Prince Content
After the ceremony, everybody's been trying to create content that is all about Prince, from memes to imaginary film posters. He was the King of Sunday night's event after all. The picture above is of The Grand BudaPrince Hotel, and is a courtesy of BuzzFeed. Here are two more pictures, because well, he's Prince.
