Your Local Fashion Guide to Beirut: #news
Here's some amazing local fashion news that we woke up this morning. It's so nice to be proud of Lebanon for a change!
Starch Foundation Showcased at IFS 2016
Starch Foundation, in partnership with The Arab British Centre, showcased ‘Blueprint Beirut’ as part of the International Fashion Showcase in London. The exhibition featured 9 Starch Foundation designers and architects who were headed by Starch Foundation's co-founder, Tala Hajjar.
In its fifth edition this year, the International Fashion Showcase (IFS) is a series of specially commissioned and curated fashion installations featuring work by emerging designers from 24 countries. Created by the British Council and British Fashion Council, it is a key part of the London Fashion Week public program which forms a city-wide celebration of fashion that is open to all. The exhibition celebrates the universal relevance of fashion in contemporary culture. Read more about it here.
Lebanon Beats Out 24 Countries
This year the exhibition was entitled ‘Fashion Utopias’ and it took over the West Wing at Somerset House. It was essentially a showcase of how emerging designers envisioned their version of a Utopia.
We are so proud to say that among 24 countries and 80 other designers, Lebanon (via the Starch Foundation designers), took home the Curator Award.
Congratulations Tala Hajjar and all those Starch designers for this incredibly proud win!
